More than a third (35%) of SMEs in the UK are increasingly concerned about their ability to gain funding in the run up to Brexit, a study by Hiscox has revealed. UK SMEs now invest £2.9bn annually on cyber security experts to help them stay ahead of the latest threats. This equates to an average figure of £1,600 per business, with many larger SMEs spending ten times more. This is an increase of 43% over the last five years, and is expected to increase again over the next year by 32%.

More than three-quarters (76%) of manufacturers in the UK employ at least one EU national in their business, while EU nationals make up 11% of the manufacturing workforce on average. This is according to a report published the EEF, which highlights the issues that manufacturers will have, and perhaps many other sectors, when seeking appropriately skilled workers in a post-Brexit world.

A consequence of Brexit is that two European Union agencies currently hosted by the United Kingdom will need to be relocated elsewhere in the EU once the UK is no longer a member.
