The World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM) in Toronto has become a leading conference for the disaster management community worldwide, providing a unique combination of business continuity and emergency management education, and the Business Continuity Institute is proud to have been part of that growth in its role as one of the main conference sponsors for the last few years.
Building on this, the BCI is pleased to form a new partnership with Diversified Communications Canada, organizers of WCDM, along with the Disaster Recovery Institute of Canada (DRIC) and the Disaster Recovery Information Exchange-Toronto Chapter (DRIE-Toronto), to produce a new International Business Continuity Management conference in the Spring of 2018.
This new conference will serve the needs of business continuity management professionals across Canada, allowing us to meet the changing needs of the resilience community, and be relevant to the wider audience of those working in public safety. It will also allow us to better educate and address the current global threats, risks and opportunities we all face. In addition to the Spring 2018 conference, the partnership will also be responsible for delivering a Continuity Management Symposium at the Sheraton Centre Hotel in Toronto on Thursday 22nd June 2017.
“We look forward to supporting the sharing of lessons from resilient organizations around the world,” said Christopher Horne, BCI Canada Chapter President. “In particular through the networking and insights offered from experienced planners to help attendees further strengthen and prepare their organizations to respond to the unexpected.”
Peter Power FBCI, Chair of WCDM, said: “This will be a much needed highly focused event, linked to WCDM, and specifically aimed at delivering leading edge and cost effective ideas on such a vital topic.”
“Having all three BC associations in Canada collaborate towards the same goal of meeting the primary educational needs of the continuity management professional is a first in Canada,” said Dan Joyce, VP Business Development, DCC. “The new conference will also include webinars, workshops, and online training.”
Details on the Continuity Management Symposium, as well as dates and location for the 2018 conference, will be announced in due course.
